- The Original UV Replacement Lamp replaces the lamp in the Original UV Filter (AQ-UV-STD) and lasts for 12 months. For total home protection, Aquasana’s UV Filter is an added safeguard that removes up to 99.99% of viruses and bacteria like E.coli, and chlorine-resistant cysts like giardia and cryptosporidium. As water passes through the UV’s stainless-steel chamber, water is purified by various frequencies of ultraviolet light. Essentially, the DNA in microbial cells absorbs the UV light, which kills these dangerous contaminants. This filter is perfect for anyone on a well-water system or for anyone looking for a last line of defense to protect your drinking water. If you purchased your system before July 2019, you will use the Original UV Replacement Lamp. If you purchased your system after July 2019, click here for the New UV Filter Replacement. Replacements are easy and do not require a plumber.
