Answer: I've used this cable for the most part of this year and I haven't seen any evidence of cracking from my 25 lb dog using it during the snowy Indiana winter we had this year. So far, I am very happy with mine. -

Would this be too heavy for a much smaller dog? 5 lb Pom.
Answer: Yes I believe it would be to heavy for a 5lb dog. I think they come lighter. if not get some clothes line rope but some clips and tie them on real good and that would be fine for him or her. I have a shihi-poo he ways 26lbs. and i got a clothes line rope for him. Any hardware store will have the rope and probably the clips, but I do believe they come in lighter weight. I bet he or she is cute. i think Poms are real cute but so is mine. Good luck you will find something. -

My little dog weighs. About 4 lbs I need a very light weight tie out cord I worry about the large clip. Can you use this with a swivel stake?
Answer: My pups weigh 10 and 12 pounds. They don't have a problem with the weight of the clip. But after looking at it I think it may to heavy for your 4 pound pup. Just my opinion, good luck! -

Answer: I have a puggle who is a chewer and so far she has not been able to do damage to this, at this point I would recommend this, it seems well made. -

Would this be too heavy for a 13 lbs shitzu terrier?
Answer: It is light weight and my little Cairn terrier performs quite well on this lead. -

What does this get attached to?nGoing on vacation with our dog and want to be able to give him freedom in unfenced backyard.
Answer: Usually a tie out stake. Since you are on vacation, I would think it will depend upon the size of your dog and what you might have access too: a tree, a deck post, anything sturdy would do--wrap the cable around it. -

How does the snap hold up to rain/snow/moisture? All the ones I had keep getting rusty.
Answer: The snap has held up in the limited rain I've had it in. However the stake is extremely weak and will not last for a second install. Attempting to reinstall mine it snapped clean into a very sharp and hard to remove point. I recommend a stronger stake. -

do the clasps rust?
Answer: I haven't had these issues. The clasps are either brass, or appear to be, and have not rusted after about a year of use. They haven't been out in rainy weather much either. As for kinking, there has been some of that but hardly enough to be a big issue. It still rolls up into a relatively compact bundle when not in use. My dog is 22 lbs.
