Bu yüzden sürekli kendini güncellemeleri ve yenilikleri takip etmeleri gerekmektedir. Piyasada hekimlere yönelik birçok reçete ve tanı tedavi kitabı bulunmaktadır. Bu kitapların çoğunda sadece yetişkinlere yönelik tedaviler var olup çocuklara yönelik tedavi eksik kalmaktadır. Çoğu kitapta tedavi seçenekleri verilirken her hastalık için birden çok seçenek verilip kafa karışıklığına neden olmaktadırlar. Ayrıca bu kitaplarda ilaç dozları, ilaçların ticari isimleri ve laboratuvar referans değerleri eksik kalmakta dolayısıyla hekim bir kaç kitaba birden ihtiyaç duymaktadır. Bu kitapta özellikle aile hekimleri, pratisyen hekimler, stajer doktorlar, intern doktorlar ve pediatristler için; poliklinik hastaları, yatan hastalar ve acil vakalara yönelik, hem yetişkin hastalar hem de çocuk hastalar için tanı, tedavi ve takipte gerekli bilgiler, örnek reçeteler, ilaç dozları, ilaçların ticari isimlerini ve laboratuvar referans değerlerini içeren hekimlerin başka bir kaynağa ihtiyaç duymayacağı bir kitap hazırlamaya çalıştık. Kitabı hazırlarken değerli hocalarımıza ait yerli ve yabancı kitaplar, derneklere ait tedavi rehberleri, ders notları, derneklere ait web siteleri vb. bir çok kaynaktan faydalandık. Mümkün olduğunca birçok tedavi seçeneğine yer vermektense en sık tercih edilen tedavileri seçtik. Hekimleri kolay reçete yazabilmeleri için ilaçların etken maddeleri yanında ticari isimlerini de yer verdik. Kafa karışıklığına neden olmamak için mümkün olduğunca ilk seçenek tedavileri yazdık. İlaçların ticari isimlerini de mümkün oldukça ekonomik olan farklı firmaların ilaçlarına yer verdik Temel amacımız, hekimlerin klinik ve poliklinikte karşılaşacağı hastalıklara karşı iyi bir tedavi vermelerini sağlamak ve hastalıklarla ilgili sık karşılaşılan sorulara cevap vermekti. Bu yeni basımda sizden gelen öneriler ışığında kitap gözden geçirildi ve yeni hekim arkadaşların katkısıyla güncel tedavi rehberleri referans alınarak güncellendi ve genişletildi.
